WOOOAAAAHHHH!!
That was so cool!!
If you didn’t know, the beautiful people at Rugby Festival of Culture asked BAM! to provide an afternoon of music in Rugby town centre on July 15th.
We did it in partnership with the incredible music department at Lawrence Sheriff school who gave us 3 of the 11 acts.
I had high expectations for the day because I knew the standard of all the acts would be high and the support they received would be fervent. My expectations were surpassed on both counts!
We had around 50 young people performing in 11 acts over 3 hours. It was a tight schedule which ran very close to perfectly. Massive respect to the Tan.Trum guys for running the sound and managing the stage all day. It was important to me that as much as possible was done by the younglings to maximise the amount of experience that could be gained on the day.
We had everything from a jazz-esque big band to solo acoustic singer/songwriters to electric guitar orchestras, rock bands, funk bands and the hilarious bacon based chronicles of ‘The Monomyth’
Perhaps even better than the performances was the attitude of every single performer. Yes there were nerves, especially from the 1st timers, but they overcame them. Yes there were problems with equipment, but they overcame then. Even the good lord tried to foil our plan with some rain, but they overcame that too.
An awesome day with some awesome kids and some even more awesome music, I can’t wait to do it again!

MASSIVE thanks to the Genius Bros for supplying staging, Mark Walker for the photos and Andy Smith for asking and trusting BAM, in its 1st year to provide such an event.
