ROCK SCHOOL
If you’re studying the Rock School syllabus and want to help yourself get ready for an exam, or just want to make some improvements to your playing then the 1st step, as always, is to GET THE BACKING TRACKS. You can download these from the Rock School Website or just search the song name, plus the word RockSchool on YouTube.
For example:
Search “Green Onions RockSchool” and the top result is this:
If the backing tracks are too quick for you currently, then change the playback speed (the small gear icon in a browser, or the 3 dots in the mobile app) to 0.75
Most backing tracks are available on YouTube with the Atom Music School channel being the best. (CLICK HERE)
TRINITY ROCK AND POP
By using the official Trinity Rock and Pop app you can slow songs down, solo different instruments, change the volumes and even jump to the sections you are working on.

IMPROVISATION
What is better that sitting down and noodling for 10 minutes? Not much!
There are hundreds and hundreds of backing tracks on YouTube in all different styles and keys for you to practice playing over. Below is a video from one of my favourite channels, go and explore!
This channel provides scale charts within the video to help you to find your way around.
If you haven’t yet learnt all of your pentatonic shapes, then I’ve included the charts below. Just make sure that you put the white notes (the root notes) in the right place! For example, for the track above in A minor, make sure you start shape 1 on the 5th fret. Simple!
